Homefront: Ultimate Edition to invade stores later this year

There might have been a distinct waft of Modern Warfare 2 about it, but I was quite fond of what little time I had with Homefront last year. Sure, the campaign might have lasted about as long as it takes Forest Gump to field-strip an M16 assault rifle, but there was some enjoyment to be had from it. But for those of you whom haven’t yet enlisted in the war effort, in an attempt to save the United States from a life of becoming slave to a unified Korea, you might want to consider picking up Homefront: Ultimate Edition when it marches onto store shelves between now and April.

We say “between now and April” because, in truth, an official release date has not yet been provided; but Eurogamer reports that we can supposedly expect it to land before the publisher’s next fiscal year starts. As a matter of fact, we don’t even know for certain what makes the Ultimate Edition so… ultimate. We’re guessing it’ll be a bundling of the original game plus the two DLC map packs which struck the Steam Store during last year.

Last time we checked, however, the multiplayer portion of the game was starting to die down a bit. What at first started as a large-scale world war seems to have steadily reduced to something more resembling a international disagreement. Here’s to hoping this upcoming Ultimate Edition will see some fresh new faces charging onto the front lines.
